Cancer Center Support Groups
Help for the journey. In addition to providing comprehensive treatment for patients, the LewisGale Regional Cancer Center Pulaski also attempts to address the emotional concerns of those experiencing cancer.
We encourage patients and caregivers to attend a support group, consult with a social worker, receive nutritional counseling, or use the Center's Patient Conference Room -- full of helpful educational resources concerning cancer.
Support along the way. Patients, families, and caregivers as well as the community at large, may attend one of the following support groups:
- Reaching Out Support Group. This group invites cancer patients with any diagnosis and their caregivers . The group meets the second Tuesday of most months, 5 - 6 p.m., at the LewisGale Regional Cancer Center Pulaski.
- Breast Cancer Support Group. This group invites Breast Cancer patients and caregivers. The group meets the third Tuesday of most months, 5 - 6 p.m., at the LewisGale Regional Cancer Center Pulaski.
- Look Good Feel Better. This group invites cancer patients with any diagnosis and their caregivers . The program focuses on helping patients look their best throughout their chemotherapy and radiation therpay treatments. This includes a make-over session, discussion on skin changes during cancer treatments, and hair accessories (including wigs).
For dates of current meetings visit our Support Groups page.
Guidance in the present. The community at large can benefit from the following cancer screenings offered at the Center at different times during the year.
Most screenings are free of charge, but you must meet certain requirements and must register prior to each screening. For more details, and to learn about our next scheduled screening, see our Community Calendar.
Hope for the future. LewisGale Regional Cancer Center Pulaski works closely with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to help find answers and provide support to those who have been touched by cancer. Annually, the Center participates in ACS' Relay For Life here in Pulaski. The Relay serves as team event to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer. For more information, visit the New River Valley Relay For Life, or the American Cancer Society.
